Hi Valerie, Thanks for these. I think a hipped roof is probably not viable at this low pitch because of the waterproofing problems. Your second option could work quite well, tho again I think the pitch would have to be steeper to get the high level clerestory to work, with a sill upstand etc. Not sure how the clerestory window could be accessed for cleaning.
